Create something that is yours. Make sure you have the rights needed for every video, sound, live, product and promotion you share. If your work has been used without permission, we provide a way to report it and a way to challenge mistakes.
01
Creativity deserves respect
Beexie is a place for people and businesses to create videos, sounds, live experiences, artwork, avatars and more. This policy applies across Beexie, including posts, profiles, messages, channels, Circles, ads, product listings and paid content. It forms part of our Terms of use.
Do not publish, sell or monetise material that infringes another person's copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights. Payment, gifting, a subscription or a verification badge does not grant permission to use someone else's work.
02
Your work and Beexie materials
You retain the rights you own in your original contributions. The content licence in our terms lets Beexie operate the service and honour the sharing features you choose. It does not transfer your ownership.
Beexie's software, branding, designs and supplied creative assets remain protected by the rights of Beexie Interactive Communications or their respective licensors. You may use BeeMe parts, stickers, effects and other tools through their intended features, subject to any stated licence. Do not resell our asset libraries, claim our branding as your own or imply an official partnership without permission.
Creating an avatar does not give you rights to a third party's character, likeness, logo or design. Do not impersonate someone or use their identity in a misleading commercial promotion.
03
Videos, music, sounds and live content
Use original material, properly licensed material, or material covered by an applicable legal exception. Music can involve separate rights in a recording, composition and performance. Permission for one use may not cover another, such as advertising, a sponsored post, a paid live or distribution outside Beexie.
Check the permissions for sounds and other assets before using them commercially. Labelling a track an “original sound,” giving credit, buying a copy, using a short clip or adding “no infringement intended” does not by itself establish permission. You must also have permission for material playing in the background of a video or live where the law requires it.
Lawful exceptions can protect uses such as criticism, review, quotation or parody depending on the circumstances and jurisdiction. We consider relevant context; a disagreement with criticism is not by itself an infringement claim.
04
Trademarks and counterfeit goods
Do not use a business name, logo, handle or product presentation in a way that misleads people about its source, sponsorship or affiliation. Counterfeit products and promotions for them are prohibited.
A truthful reference, review or clearly identified fan or commentary account is not automatically a trademark violation. Avoid confusing branding and make any lack of affiliation clear. A trademark complaint should explain the relevant rights and how the use creates confusion, rather than simply identifying a mention of the brand.
05
Report a rights violation
For an in-app report, open the content's report menu and choose Uses my work without permission. For a formal copyright or trademark notice, the rights owner or an authorised representative should email [email protected], Beexie's designated contact for IP notices.
Include enough detail for us to identify the rights and locate the material:
- Your name, contact details and authority to act.
- The work or trademark involved, with evidence of ownership or authorisation. For a registered mark, include its jurisdiction and registration details.
- Exact Beexie links, usernames and relevant timestamps, and why the use infringes your rights.
- A signed statement that the information is accurate and you are authorised to complain. A formal Nigerian copyright notice must also include the declaration on oath required by section 54 of the Copyright Act.
We may request missing information. Formal notices and responses may need to be shared with the affected party or competent authorities to handle the dispute. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information; tell us if disclosure raises a safety concern. This differs from an ordinary in-app safety report.
Do not send abusive or knowingly false complaints, or use this process to suppress lawful competition, criticism or expression.
06
What happens after a report
We review the information, may ask for clarification and may remove, disable, mute or limit affected material or features. Where legally required, we act expeditiously and notify the affected user and complainant. A restriction may affect videos that depend on a disputed sound, paid access or other related uses.
We handle valid notices, counter-notices and repeat infringement under applicable law, including the Nigerian Copyright Act 2022. Where its repeat-notification procedure applies, we follow the required warnings, challenge process and suspension periods. Severe or repeated violations can also result in termination under our terms.
07
Appeals and counter-notices
If you believe a restriction is mistaken, reply to the notice or email [email protected]. Include the decision reference, affected content, your contact details and signature, and the factual basis for your challenge, such as a licence, ownership or a legal exception. Observe any deadline in the notice or applicable law.
We may forward a counter-notice to the complainant and consider restoration when the applicable procedure permits it. Restoration is not automatic and may depend on a response, pending proceedings or another policy violation. Disputes under the Nigerian statutory process may be referred to the Nigerian Copyright Commission. Beexie does not replace a court or determine ownership conclusively.
Do not re-upload removed material to evade a restriction while a dispute is unresolved. You may seek independent legal advice before submitting a formal notice or counter-notice.
